Launch of Realtor Association of Guyana – Press Statement
On this day, Wednesday June 22nd, 2022, it brings us great pleasure to announce the launch of the Realtor Association of Guyana. We are a group of Real Estate Professionals who understand the need for cohesion on the very important matter of regulating the Real Estate Industry in Guyana.
The primary objective of this Association is that as practising Real Estate professionals, we are able to combine and share thoughts, ideas and areas of expertise on what can eventually be the Legislation that governs the Real Estate Profession and the Real Estate Industry as a whole, in Guyana.
Beyond that, however, we aim to provide education for persons who have an interest in practising Real Estate and becoming licensed to do so. We also appreciate the importance of continuous market research and shall endeavour to be the ones to exert efforts to ensure such research is conducted because ultimately, we want to ensure that the entirety of our membership are able to stay abreast with changes in the market. It is important to us that we always remain in a position where our decisions as an Association are well informed.
We are proud of the professionals on our team as each person brings a high level of expertise in various aspects of Real Estate. With the help of these and other experts, we aim to be the chosen vehicle for the licensing process in the near future. We maintain high hopes of this Association growing its membership to the fullest potential. Our current team of professionals, that being the Board of Directors, have already started to work assiduously on not only putting together a proposal for Legislation but also on putting together a proposal for a suitable curriculum for potential licensees.
Our Association currently comprises four committees, these being:
- The Education Committee which addresses the relevance and academic standards of academic programmes in the Real Estate industry in Guyana. Using our combined knowledge and experience, this committee intends to submit its ideas to the Ministry Of Education for consideration, in an attempt to ensure that everyone in this industry has access to the highest standard of education available.
- The Legislation Committee, the aims of which are to research, study, draft and compile model legislation that will be submitted to the Attorney General for review and consultation with the aim of it being tabled as the Real Estate Act of Guyana. This committee is focused on advocacy to see real estate legislation that will enhance protections for buyers, sellers, and realtors.
- The Membership Committee, will allow persons to subscribe to the Realtor Association, plan programs to benefit the membership of the Association particularly in the areas of networking with other real estate agents across the country, staying informed of regulatory changes and assisting members with their overall visibility in the industry.
- The Finance Committee is established to ensure the efficient management of all finances and to maintain proper accounting records of the association.
